is necessary –
a journal
of clock ticks
to document
passage
the way the point
of a pencil
scrapes paper
to announce
its existence.
And every scrap
and shred
is necessary –
each moment
set against
an approximation
of what has passed
& will pass
& continues to move
in an intractable
circular fashion
divining different paths
around the same
immovable stones.
Leave nothing
to chance –
be prepared
to offer
discrete
documentation
of every alibi
and excuse:
time,
place,
position,
and outcome.
It is
inevitable
