Monday Morning
A small smackerel
of cold coffee
clinging to the pursed
lower lip of a thin
styrofoam cup
streaked with pastel
greenpurple convenience
melted at the bottom,
slightly, still smoldering,
because placing the cup
straight on the hot plate
will do that.
because I placed the cup
directly on the hot plate,
wanting to bypass
the middle man
